Sesto al Reghena is a town in the province of Pordenone, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, with around 6,333 inhabitants, located about 17 km from the provincial capital. Its urban fabric is built around an exceptionally valuable historic core, dominated by the Lombard Abbey of Santa Maria in Sylvis, one of the most important and best-preserved monastic complexes in North-Eastern Italy, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The village has preserved its medieval identity intact: the walls, the castle, the square and the narrow streets form a heritage that has no equal among the smaller towns of the region.
The Reghena River, a spring-fed watercourse with a constant flow, stable temperature and high environmental quality, runs through the village and forms its natural backbone. Its banks can be explored on foot or by bicycle, connecting Sesto al Reghena with the nearby municipalities through the highly evocative landscapes of the Friulian plain.
The presence of the river is not just an aesthetic feature: it is also an environmental and energy resource that the project aims to enhance in an innovative way
The building, which can be dated to the first half of the 19th century, is an integral part of the village’s historic fabric. Its load-bearing solid brick masonry, two bricks thick, reflects the construction quality of that period. The wooden floors, with exposed beams and timber boarding on the upper levels, are valuable architectural features that the renovation project aims to preserve and enhance, while fully respecting the municipal restrictions and the regulations applying to the historic area.
The renovation will not simply be a functional upgrade. It will be the recovery of a historic building and its transformation into a contemporary hospitality concept, able to offer visitors the authentic atmosphere of the village without giving up modern comfort.
The project involves renovating the property as a single, coordinated intervention, with the aim of converting the historic building into a high-quality tourist accommodation facility with 12 en-suite rooms
